What can a FOSS supporter expect from FOSSMeet
hi there,
I wanted to know what can an open source supporter expect from such an event. I have never before attended any conference or meeting related to open source. So have no idea what all are there and what all to expect from attending this event.

You get to meet people who share your ideas
I would say the best part is getting to meet a lot of the people who share your ideas. These interactions can trigger new ideas and information. Listening it from the horse's mouth is better than reading online.
There is much more, you get to know once you participate.
I know my rights; I want my phone call!
What use is a phone call, if you are unable to speak?

Benefits of attending FOSSMeet
The most visible benefits are: you get to meet a lot of other FOSS active people, get to learn new things from them or in the workshops/talks that are organised, get to do actual hacking/coding with other people in hack sessions and hands-on workshops. Other benefits include: you can yourself become a speaker if you have something to share with the community as these meets provide a platform for you to speak out.
As you have not attended any FOSSMeet or similar event I suggest you to read my experience as a first timer in a FOSS workshop at http://techglider.com/kartik/blog/2008/08/27/foss-and-lamp-workshop-at-a...
